Out of the Ordinary is the latest offering from Kate Jenkins. Published in late 2024, the book is a fictional account of the early life of FM Alexander, internationally renowned for his Alexander Technique. The book brings to life the people, places and events that shaped FM’s life in Australia from the age of ten to the age of twenty-six.
While working in the UK, Kate was introduced to the Alexander Technique. After only a few sessions chronic pain and lack of movement caused by a shoulder injury disappeared, and has not returned. For the next few years Kate continued with regular Alexander Technique lessons. Years later she found herself living in Tasmania, the birthplace of FM Alexander. Intrigued as to how FM made the transition from troublesome school boy in remote Wynyard to the cosmopolitan man who developed the Alexander Technique, Kate decided to explore further, and the result is her biographical novel.
